Last week, on October 12th and 13th, University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust hosted its debut All-Staff conference in Arundel, supported and funded by the dedicated trust charity, My University Hospitals Sussex.

Colleagues from across the trust came together to collaborate, learn about leadership initiatives within the trust, and expand their collective knowledge to reach a common goal of improving patient care. Speakers from a variety of professions within the trust took to the stage to discuss their experiences and the challenges they have faced in their respective departments, and how they adapted and grew from those experiences.

George Findlay, Chief Executive of University Hospitals Sussex Trust, delivered a compelling address, emphasising the importance of our trust values. These values, deeply ingrained in the culture of the trust, serve as guiding principles for hospital staff. Speakers discussed how they have played a pivotal role in shaping the hospital’s operations, fostering a sense of unity among staff, and ultimately delivering exceptional healthcare services to the local community.

During the conference, attendees had the opportunity to connect and network in designated breakout sessions. These sessions fostered an environment where colleagues could unwind, engage in informal discussions, and share their insights and experiences. The breakout sessions became hubs of lively conversations, inspiring a sense of camaraderie among staff members from various departments. Many valuable connections were made and ideas were exchanged in these informal settings, further reinforcing the sense of unity and collaboration that the conference aimed to promote.

Based on the positive feedback from both staff and speakers, the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust All-Staff conference was a resounding success,. My University Hospitals Sussex enjoyed supporting this long-awaited event, both financially and through the attendance of our dedicated staff team of John Price, Denise Stanborough, Tom Greening, Richard Beard, Katy Downer, and Rachel Hodgson. As the dedicated trust charity, we recognise the importance of investing in person in events promoting, learning  and awareness among trust staff.

Thank you to all the staff, speakers and personnel who took part or attended the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust All-Staff conference. The Team at My University Hospitals Sussex is honoured to have played a role in bringing this event to fruition – and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
