Sussex Downs Hiking Trail – Saturday 28 November

Experience the stunning beauty of the South Downs National Park on the Sussex Downs Hiking Trail, a spectacular walking and hiking challenge in the heart of Mid Sussex. Starting and finishing at the well-equipped Plumpton Racecourse.

Choose from three scenic distances – 21km, 16km, or 11km – making this event perfect for both experienced hikers and those looking for a rewarding day out on the trails.

Your journey begins with a gentle, tree-lined 3.5km section, giving you the perfect opportunity to settle into your stride before tackling the rewarding climb onto the iconic South Downs Way. From the ridge, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping panoramic views across the Sussex countryside, taking in the Seven Sisters, rolling hills, and even glimpses of the English Channel on a clear day.

The route follows well-maintained trails towards Brighton before looping back along the South Downs Way, offering more unforgettable scenery at every turn. A long downhill descent then leads into a flat final 3km, providing a comfortable finish and a well-earned sense of achievement as you cross the line.
