On 23rd April, local businesses gathered at Saywell International’s exquisite Hangar H for the official launch of My Charity’s exciting new fundraising initiative, the First 50 Club.

The First 50 Club is a unique entrepreneurial challenge supporting our local hospitals. Bringing together businesses, associations and groups from across Sussex, each member is given a £50 seed fund and a simple mission: grow it into as much as possible! Through creative, collaborative and inventive fundraising, our participants have been given six months to show Sussex what they can do!

John Price, Special Projects Fundraiser, said: “We all need the NHS. And with our community’s help, we can make it the best it can be for the people of Sussex. The First 50 Club is a fun opportunity for local businesses to unite, think outside the box, and get creative in their fundraising efforts. Whether a small shop, large corporation or a community group, each contribution will make an incredible impact.”

Beyond raising vital funds, this challenge is an opportunity to:

  • Strengthen team bonds
  • Foster innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Showcase your company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility
“As a local business established in Sussex 90 years ago and serving its residents each day since, making a positive difference in our community is a fundamental principle for Turner’s Pies. That's why we've joined the First 50 Club - raising vital funds for the local NHS that supports the community our business serves everyday.”

There was a buzz in the air at the launch event, as attendees began to brainstorm all sorts of wonderful fundraising ideas, quickly getting into the competitive spirit. Local companies including Sleep Eco Hotel, Lanes Health Club and Saywell International received their £50 to get the ball rolling.

Over the next six months, participants will be encouraged to think big, collaborate, and get creative in maximizing their £50 investment. Whether through events, partnerships or innovative fundraising ideas, the First 50 Club will showcase the collective power of Sussex businesses working together for a common cause. Every penny raised will go directly to supporting our local hospitals.
